Golf and Beach Time Together

So far my sister, Linda, with her hubby and the kids, are having a blast in Myrtle Beach. Her email that she just sent me says that the weather is perfect and they can’t wait for tomorrow to get the party started! They are getting settled in, trying to get the kids to bed before too late so that they can get up early and start taking advantage of the pre arranged golf packages Myrtle Beach style. Golf has always been a sport that the entire family has enjoyed playing together. It’s All About The Weather Gods

My sister and her family (hubby and two kids) are leaving tomorrow for their last fling of the summer. Most kids are all ready back in school, but she home schools her kids so they don’t have to worry about the kids missing the first part of school and can take advantage of the reduced rates that are offered for after the Labor Day week end is over and done with.

The whole family enjoys playing golf and hopefully the weather will be great for the beach as well as a few rounds of golf. There are wonderful Myrtle Beach golf courses that they will be checking out. Sis spent a good amount of time online looking for the best Myrtle Beach golf packages and her efforts paid off when she landed on http://www.myrtlebeachgolf.net. Their site made it nice and easy where she could arrange their tee times and their accommodations at the same time.

She picked the Stay & Play Golf package and I’m sure I’ll be hearing all the details along with plenty of pictures and videos that they will be taking. Hope they have a blast, may the weather gods be gentle with them. This time of the year you never know what to expect!

Myrtle Beach South Carolina After Labor Day

My sister is getting excited about their trip to Myrtle Beach. She tried to get me to go with them, as much as I’d love to go to the beach and play a few rounds of golf with them, there is way too much to do around the farm for me to be away for even one or two days. I hope that they weather is good next week for th em to enjoy their much needed familyvacation.

Sis spent a lot of time on the Internet to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation deals for after Labor Day and she is happy with the Myrtle Beach hotel that she finally decided on. She says that she just wishes that she had went to http://www.grandeshores.com first off, apparently there is a lot of hotels and resorts down there that she weeded through before land at The Grande Shores Resort website. But her determination paid off and they are good to go.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is a great area with so much offer everyone, so the whole family will have plenty to do all week long and they promised to take a lot of pictures to share with friends and family when they get back. Who knows, maybe next year things will be better around here and I can actually take at least a weekend and take a beach trip.

Muscle Cars – Making A Come Back

My good friend, that lives only a few miles from me, it totally into restoring cars. Many the old muscle cars that we are seeing more and more of on the roads these past couple of years. You can be that the driver of the car will at least be in their 40′s and most likely having a mid life crisis, much like the guys you see driving the old souped up Corvettes all these years that we have all laughed at watching them cruise down the road.

It is so cool that so many of the older cars are making a come back. Mustang’s right now seem to be ruling the road, once again, and now I’m seeing some pretty cool Chevy Camaro that are making a come back. These newer models are great to see making a comeback and it appears that there are plenty of parts available. CARiD is one of the places that you can find the chevy camaro accessories. They have been in the business since 2003 and are based out of Edison, NJ. My buddy relies on them a lot when he needs custom and OEM parts for his many projects that keep him busy day in and day out. Check out carid.com if you have the need.

My Brother’s Hunting Trip Was Not Very Successful

My brother and his friend decided to take a vacation to go hunting last year. They called my sister and asked her to help them plan their hunting vacation. She used to be a travel agent and knew all of the tricks to finding an affordable vacation using hughnet internet. They knew that she would be able to get online with her satellite broadband internet arkansas to get any information they might need about the trip. She ended up booking a hunting trip to Colorado for them thanks to her hughesnet plans. They were gone for two weeks and ended up not seeing any wildlife at all. They did, however, meet some more hunters while on the trip. The other hunters invited the two of them to come back next year to hunt with them at their hunting lease in a nearby town. They are really looking forward to the trip. Maybe next year, at least one of them will get the trophy buck that he has been dreaming about for years. I sure hope that they have a good time when they go next year. If they do not bring anything back, their wives may not let them go again.

The Old Swimming Hole

I haven’t been swimming in a few years and I’m about fed up with that. I just remembered that there is an old swimming hole that we used to go to, not too far from here, that is sounding real good to me about now. This summer has been a real killer, with the temperatures in the 90′s and into the 100′s each and every day, over and over and over. So I’m planning on taking a trip there tomorrow to see if it is still there and if there is any water in it since we haven’t had much rain this year. It could very well be all dried up. And if there is any water in it, it will most likely be warm, but that is O.K anything would be better that what I’ve been dealing with this season.

Cable Vs Satellite TV

My oldest sister is trying to convince me to switch from cable TV to a satellite Dish TV company. We have had cable TV here at the farm since pay TV came into existence so it has never been a concern to change to anything else. But there is apparently a referral program that direct satellite tv offers that both of us would end up getting a chunk of change from if I was to switch over and that sounds good to me. And my sister is used to getting her way, sigh……

I found a website that shows you the different tv pricing offers, which was enlightening to read over. It’s amazing how the Internet has made tasks like this one a much easier one to tackle. It beats the heck out of calling around and getting the information on the phone and all that goes along with that process of elimination. One quick simple website filled with all of the pertinent information and there you go, just like that.

I do like the sports channels and the sports packages that are being offer by direct tv. With football season coming up soon I do plan on taking some time in the evening when all of the work is done around here and watching a good amount of football. I just wish that I had a big screen TV like a lot of people have now a days. But I don’t see that happening any time soon, but you never know what the future holds!

TV and Sports Programs

A good friend of mine has cable and I subscribe to satellite, so we tend to bounce back and forth to each other’s living room in order to get the best of both worlds. He gets the best in cable sports, while I get the sunday ticket package, so between the two of us we get it all. It’s just too bad that we don’t live closer to each other but I can handle an hour drive in order to enjoy the companionship of a good friend and in order to enjoy a sporting event that I don’t get on my television.

We both try to keep the refrigerator full of beer and each is responsible for bringing over some munchies to enjoy during the games. It usually isn’t anything fancy, maybe some popcorn, nuts, chips and dip, something along that line. Once in a while we’ll call the local pizza joint to have a pizza delivered, since neither one of us enjoys cooking and we both enjoy a thin crust pepperoni pizza.

I have found that Cox cable sports really does have the best selections available. And if I didn’t have the opportunity to go over to my buddies place to watch these sports with him I would most likely switch over to Cox cable. But I have had satellite for a good long time and have always had good customer service and I don’t pay a lot of money each month so for now I’ll just stay put. Since I do live alone it does me good to get out once in a while and I’ve known this guy for most of my life and it works out well for the both of us.

A Nice Little Weapons Collection

My grand father, my father’s father, was an avid gun collector and totally enjoyed showing off his, always changing, and always growing, selections of weapons that were constantly seemingly taking up a large amount of the garage, side & back porch, basement, dining room, living room and his office! The only place that you wouldn’t see something gun related was the bathroom and his bedroom, that, my grandmother insisted, was to be totally gun free. (Except for the 45 that was always within easy reach, and usually was under his pillow). One of my grandfather’s most memorable sayings was “Put the pillow under a lady and put the pistol under the pillow” I think of that old saying more often than I would have ever thought I would. As a kid growing up listening to this old man’s stories and sayings, you sort of tuned them out after awhile.

I miss my grandfather. He passed on several years ago, leaving my grandmother grieving and broken hearted. We do what we can to keep her busy and the whole extended family has pulled together to make what is left of her life one that isn’t full of loneliness and old memories.

My grandfather did manage to leave me a small portion of his massive assortment of weapons that were divided up between several members of our very large and extended family. I have several really nice holsters as well and he made sure that each weapon came with an good amount of bullets and cleaning kits and all kinds of other accessories that one might eventually needed.

Direct TV & Football

I’m so glad that I had the insight to have my satellite service with Directv. I like my Direct TV TiVo and DVR and I can’t imaging life without them at this point. I have been way too busy around the farm and the old house to be able to catch many of the shows that I used to enjoy watching before being burdened with the running of the farm. If I wasn’t able to record them and watch them when I get a chance, I’d really be miserable.

With Football season fast approaching I will really be able to take advantage of all that my satellite TV provider has to offer. I’ll make time for watching as many games as I can possibly watch. A man has his needs you know!
