The Local Diner Sounds Mighty Fine

I have decided that on Sunday evening I will go into town and have dinner at the local diner for a nice change. I have grown weary of cooking for myself each night. Most nights I only have the strength for a quick sandwich and a glass of milk. I’m way over due.

Eating dinner out at a local buffet

This Friday night a few friends and I are going to eat out at a local all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant.  You order a main dish that includes meat and potato, and then you go to the buffet counter and get all you want veggies, salad, rolls, fruit, desserts, and more potatoes if you want.  The restaurant is about the best value meal you can buy in the area, and the wait staff is friendly.  The only problems I’ve had there is sometimes they cook the steaks more than I like so I’ve learned to tell the waitress that I want it cooked rarer than I really want it.  That way it usually comes out all right.  One thing is for sure, if you leave hungry it’s your own fault!

They have a coupon book that gives loyal customer rewards, when you eat there you leave a ticket at the cashier’s desk and they fill it out with how much money your meal was.  After you spend $100 they send you a coupon good for a free meal.  That’s one of my favorite local restaurants, good food, good value, and they send you free meal tickets every few months! I like free and hate to cook, so it’s a win, win situation for me.

Hamburger Helper, a Kitchen Staple

Honet to God, I don’t know what I’d do if not for all of the varieties of Hamburger Helper, there most be over 20 different variations of this good, cheap and easy product. I’m grateful that they now offer them for use with Chicken and Tuna, and are all good tasting.

I’ve never enjoyed cooking, on occasion I do feel the urge, but cooking for one has gotten old, years ago and I find myself just doing the bare minimum in an effort to fuel my body and keep my self alive. So Hamburger Helper has kept my belly full and happy and I really don’t know what I would do without it at this point. It’s not like I can just drive down the street to pick up fast food, which is the case for a good majority of bachelor’s, the closest fast food joint is over a 45 minute drive from home, too far a drive, a waste of perfectly good gasoline as far as I’m concerned, and with the gas prices once again on the rise every trip into town is costing more and more.
