Mother’s Window Box Planters

I like that I still have my mother’s window boxes planters around this old house. She was always so proud of her window plant boxes and keep them up real well year after year. She never really got too much into work that took her outside of the house, dad was in charge of everything in that department.

As I said, I still have her window flower boxes, but I haven’t kept them up and plan on tending to them a bit over the winter months and have them ready for next spring. There is something about a nice window box that adds a touch of style to a home that floats this guy’s boat. I’m sure my mother would want them looking good once again.

I understand that garden window boxes are coming popular these days. Folks trying to grown their own food for a variety of reason’s which are all good. I have enough stuff planted on the farm that I don’t need anything in the windows except for some nice flowers.

Mesothelioma Issues

I have to say that I don’t know all the much about the much talked about this Mesothelioma Disease that a good amount of people are having to deal with these days. I just recently found out that a neighbor has been in contact with one of these practices. It seems that he was in the Navy back in the Vietnam days and spent some time on a submarine, which is where he contacted this disease. He has been experiencing symptoms for years and had no idea what the cause of these symptoms was until just a few years back. I’m glad that he found out about this condition and is taking action and could possibly get some money to help with the situation. Our Vets deserve all that they can get for what they did for us and our country.

Wild Life

We get all types of wild life around the place, but rarely do we see a bear. Well last night I saw one and he saw me and stood up on his hind legs for a moment or two and then decided to vacate promptly, which was best for the both of us.

Firewood

In this heat it really sucks getting firewood ready to burn for the cold winter months that are ahead us shortly. With the price of electricity who the heck can afford to heat their homes with the rising costs involved. So I’m trying to be a bit pro active and getting what I can get done while I can.

Green Thumb Issues

Our mother was totally into having the house looking it’s best. My father was responsible for the outside work and my mother was in charge of inside the home. She never worked a day out of the house and was a dedicated mother and home maker. She was known for her Indoor Planters and Outdoor Planters as well. The neighbors were always so envious of her green thumb and she always received the highest compliments for her talents.

I on the other hand did not inherit her green thumb all though I have managed to keep her favorite plant in her favorite Decorative Planter alive and doing well these past couple of years. I do better with outside plants but I’m trying the best that I can.

My sister, on the other hand, does quite well with her Window Box Planters that she keeps looking good all year round. So for Christmas I’ve got my eyes open for a nice Planter to present her with on Christmas day. I think she will appreciate it and put it to good use. If not I guess she will re gift it like she does with so many of the gifts that she receives!
