As a farmer I can appreciate all the hype about going “Green” in any way, shape or form that we can manage. If everyone just pitched in we all good enjoy our Mother Earth for a long time to come. This year has been so very difficult for so many people and it’s a shame that things aren’t picking up fast enough for most. I’m afraid that this year’s holiday season will fall short, big time, of so many people’s expectations. Retail is going to be crazy with sales and promotions trying to squeeze any dollars that they possibly can out of “Joe Public” and people are going to be looking for bargains more than ever. I’m glad that I don’t have a large amount of people on my list that I need to buy for this Christmas and I plan on doing as much purchasing online as I can.

All Work and No Play

My older sister is making plans to take the whole family to Florida during the Christmas holidays, when her kids are home for two weeks from school. She received a handsome check from the I.R.S. this year due to the tax credits and the stimulus package from President Obama and wants to take everyone away from all the hustle and bustle that live dishes out to each and every one of us. I’m up for that!

She has been researching Disney Tickets on the Internet, getting a head start on it all and taking her time in an effort to find the best deals. The Internet has brought making such a task a much easier one to tackle, but it still takes take to gather the information and digest it all. But all work and no play makes for a very tired old man!

Paper Less World, Ha!

Something that I over looked when I took over the place was the amount of paper work that would be involved in running a farm. Paper work and I are not on the best of terms these days, I’m so tired at the end of the day these past few months, that I find it hard to stay up after getting a bit to eat and shuffling papers around. Thank goodness for the Internet, they have really wonderful programs to help with today’s bookkeeping needs, but we still need to use and rely very heavily on our paper supply!

There is still a great need to correspond via the US Postal Service and I wish that I Had taken the time last winter to order some decent return address labels that I could just slap on all the envelopes that leave my desk each week. I’m tired of writing by hand, over and over, the name and the return address. So I think that the next time I go online for my personal use I will start looking for some deals on some nice quality but affordable return address labels. It shouldn’t be that big of deal.
