You see, I located my father’s old Harley Davidson, a 1932 VL Flathead, in the back area of one of the out buildings, a basket case at this point, but still an exciting prospect. I’m pretty good with a wrench and my brother has a good amount of knowledge concerning Harley’s and has a lot of contacts that will come into play for parts and questions, I’m sure, in putting Dad’s old scooter back together and back on the road once again.

If and when she is back together and running I’ll need the appropriate clothing and accessories to keep me warm and safe while riding this wonderful piece of machinery that my Dad so enjoyed in his younger years. So I have been taking some time looking online to find the various items that I will be needing in the near future for my use. It’s amazing to me how far technology has come just in the last few years. It wasn’t that long ago that my social calendar revolved around when my favorite shows came on television. Nights out required leaving after my favorites from early in the evening came on or rushing home to catch the new episode of must see late night tv. Now with today’s technology I can watch whatever I want whenever I want—I just set my dvr. Normally I set my dvr to record the full series of shows I want to watch but every once in a while there is something special and usually I remember to set the dvr. I say usually because every once in a while I will be out and my wife will ask if I recorded something and I will realize I forgot. It was always a disappointment—until now! I went to www.Expertsatellite.com and downloaded the dvr scheduler app for my smart phone and voila! we are in business. I can now set my dvr from anywhere, even for those shows I didn’t know about that come up in conversations at dinner parties! I wonder what conveniences they will come up with next!

He had received some nice HID boat spotlights, by Magnalight for Christmas and some other boating accessories as well, that he was very anxious to try out and did, on a day that most people wouldn’t venture onto the water on, but as I stated he was a bit anxious. He got a late start and ended up out farther than he calculated on and it got dark quickly on him and he ended up losing his way, all alone, wet and cold. A good thing that he is an experienced water man because it could have ended up real ugly.

He certainly got the opportunity to use his newly acquired spotlight and got home safe and sound, just his ego was bruised a bit, but he has a sense of humor and has made a good entertaining story out of the whole deal that will be told for years to come.

Looks like I will be spending most of the day taking on some much needed inside projects and tasks, while keeping a good fire burning to keep the place warm during this below freezing weekday, down at the farm.

When I complained to the waitress, she sent the breakfast back but still nothing was right.  She brought it back a piece at a time, and the potatoes still tasted strongly of onion, the coffee was still cold, and so were the eggs.  I was totally disgusted and left without eating any breakfast at all.  I won’t be going back to THAT place again!

I knew I needed to find a local internet provider GA to get online from home – work was riding me hard and I needed to work even after I left the office just to keep up. I work at a really young, fun company but your results are what get you promoted and some people had less of a life than I did so they were able to work late and make more results. That doesn’t sound like a big deal but for me it’s all about getting ahead before I’m married and have kids so I kicked it into high gear and set myself up a home office in the second bedroom. I love being able to kick back and watch my nightly shows WHILE I’m working and I’m lucky because my girlfriend waits tables so she’s out a lot at night. I don’t really mind putting in the extra hours as long as it’s going to get me somewhere at some point. Let’s just hope the big bosses notice my effort!

I was very glad that I have AAA insurance for just this kind of thing, I used my cell phone to call them and they sent a truck out with a guy to change my tire. I’m really glad my spare was good! So tomorrow I have to take my old tire to the tire shop and see if it can be repaired, or if I will need a new one. The guy who changed my tire seemed to think I was going to need a new one, and I suspect he’s right. If it isn’t one thing, it’s another! Money doesn’t seem to sit in my bank account very long!

I know I’ll get through it, and the tree WILL get decorated, but it is going to take a long time to do it!  I think now I have a better understanding of how emotional my mother would get at Christmas time, when she would decorate the tree.  Her mother had made many of the ornaments, and so has she.  It truly IS a family tree, and right now there isn’t much family around to enjoy it.  Maybe it’s time I started thinking about taking on a family of my own and stop rattling around by myself in this big old farmhouse.
